Organic farming

 

Organic farming is a system of production and elaboration of foodstuffs with high nutritional value, obtained without using chemical products forbidden in EU rules 2092/91 and respecting the environment.

Organic farming must follow European rules (CEE)  2092/91 of June 24th

 

The organic farming objectives are:

 

·       Make sure that he or she is consuming healthier, more nutritious and more satisfactory products due to their organoleptic qualities.

·       Preserve the natural balance by means of the creation of stable agricultural methods that don’t contamine and respect all kinds of life.

·       Respect natural rhythms.

·       Preserve or increase the land’s fertility with nutrient and organic matter cycles.

·       Prevent and minimize soil erosion.

·       Make an optimal use of resources.

·       Recycle or reuse the maximum number of materials as it’s possible.

·       Provide livestock with a healthy life.

·       Minimize contamination due to agriculture.

·       Keep genetic diversity in farms and in the environment.

·       Offer a healthy life to the farmer.

·       To produce food economically available to everybody.

 

No pesticides are used in organic products production so, organic farming respects farmer, consumer and the environmental health.

Organic farming at Balearic Islands is increasing year by year and is the best alternative to conventional agriculture.
